1180 FOURTH STREET HOUSING

SAN FRANCISCO, CA

1180 Fourth Street is comprised of 99 affordable rental homes for very-low and low-income families and 50 units for formerly homeless households. The 6-story building features two open courtyards, a rooftop garden, a community room, and 11,000 square feet of ground-level retail and restaurants. The project is GreenPoint Rated and received a 2016 AIA Housing Award in the Multifamily Housing Category.

UDCE’s work was from conceptual design through construction support of multi-discipline civil engineering consisting of sewer, storm drain, water, reclaimed water, and placement of all dry utilities, grading/accessibility, streetscape customization, and stormwater management. Restaurant, retail, community center and residential programming required intricate utility service and metering strategies.

Our work included submission and coordination with SFPUC on the preliminary and final Stormwater Control Plan (SCP). This project included over 1 acre of land disturbance and was subject to the State Water Resources Control Board General Permit for Construction. UDCE prepared the Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) and handled permitting.
